GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 314  26 July 1951

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officers and enlisted men :

FIRST LIEUTENANT LYNDALL C. WILLIAMSON, 02208474, Armor, Heavy Tank Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 21 March 1951, near Inchon, Korea, Lieutenant WILLIAMSON'S platoon was in the lead of a patrol which became subjected to intense enemy fire. As one of the tanks advanced, it struck a land mine, blowing apart the track and immobilizing the vehicle. Lieutenant WILLIAMSON, heedless of his own safety, reversed his tank and dismounting under a heavy barrage of small arms and mortar fire, he attached the two vehicles together with a cable and towed the disabled tank to the rear. Lieutenant WILLIAMSON'S heroism and initiative reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from the State of Missouri.
