AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officers and enlisted men :

SECOND LIEUTENANT JOHNNY REUS FROYLAN, 0968112, Infantry, Company "G",  65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 9 December 1950, near Sudong-ni, Korea, Company "G" was assigned the task of clearing a road of enemy troops in order to facilitate an efficient withdrawal of friendly units from the Chosin Reservoir area. Lieutenant REUS FROYLAN'S platoon, defending the highest ground of the perimeter, was repeatedly attacked by strong hostile forces. Due to the splendid defense that its platoon leader had organized, the platoon was able to repel all attacks without incurring a single casualty. Many times Lieutenant REUS FROYLAN was subjected to intense enemy fire, as he moved among his troops, stabilizing their positions and encouraging them. The accomplished and heroic leadership displayed by Lieutenant REUS FROYLAN reflects great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
