GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 253  4 July 1951

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer and enlisted men :

CAPTAIN (then WARRANT OFFICER JUNIOR GRADE) ROBERT A. WAGNER, 01311458, Company "C", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 14 February 1951, near Ncha-dong, Korea, the patrolling Third platoon encountered an overwhelming enemy force and was pinned down by intense small arms and automatic weapons fire. Captain WAGNER, who was bringing supplies to the company, immediately and voluntarily advanced to the engaged platoon and moved fearlessly through the hostile fire as he shifted the men's positions to cover and urged them to return the enemy's fire. On the arrival of the remainder of the company, he continued to assist in deploying the unit until a position was reached from which a successful assault was launched. The heroism and initiative displayed by Captain WAGNER reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from the state of Kansas.
