GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 184  11 June 1951

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer and enlisted men :

CORPORAL AGUSTIN SANDOVAL GONZALEZ, RA30429334, Infantry, Company "G", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 2 February 1951, near Tongwon-ni, Korea, Company "G" was holding defensive positions on Hill 230 when the enemy attacked the second platoon area. Corporal SANDOVAL GONZALEZ, the gunner of a rocket launcher, seized the rifle of one of his ammunition bearers who had been wounded and opened fire on the enemy. Suddenly a machine gun commenced firing from his front. Using his rocket launcher he silenced the enemy weapon with a single well aimed round. Another enemy automatic weapon opened fire which he quickly knocked out after meneuvering under fire to a more suitable position. Corporal SANDOVAL GONZALEZ again placed his rifle in action establishing a base of fire as a substitute for a machine gun which was out of action. The heroism and initiative displayed by Corporal SANDOVAL GONZALEZ reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
