AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men :

CORPORAL (then PRIVATE FIRST CLASS) ISMAEL RODRIGUEZ, RA10403277, Infantry, Company "G", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 19 February 1951, near Myongil-li, Korea, Corporal RODRIGUEZ was an assistant squad leader during an attack against the entrenched enemy on Hill 88. Throughout the action, he repeatedly exposed himself to intense enemy mortar and small arms fire in order to aid in the control and supervision of the squad's movement. In the final assault on the objective, the squad suffered heavy casualties but once again, Corporal RODRIGUEZ fearlessly exposed himself and led the remainder of the men to safety and assisted in the evacuation of the wounded. The heroic actions and devotion to duty displayed by Corporal RODRIGUEZ reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
