GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 467  30 October 1953
 

    AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL  - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:

Corporal JAIME LOPEZ DE JESUS, US29194007, Infantry, Company "H", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. During the night of 10 June 1953, in the vicinity of Kumhwa, Korea, Company "H" positions were subjected to a heavy bombardment of enemy mortar and artillery fire. Realizing the need for protective clothing, Corporal LOPEZ DE JESUS, the unit arms and supply man, immediately gathered up steel helmets and armored vests and moved into the terrain under fire. With complete disregard for his personal safety, he reeatedly rushed about the impact area, issuing the vital equipment to the men. Despite the concentration, he remained exposed to the exploding rounds until assured that all personnel were adequately protected from the incoming fire. Corporal LOPEZ DE JESUS' outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflec great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from Puerto Rico.
