GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 272  25 July 1953

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded posthumously to the following named enlisted men:

Corporal JUANITO R. BOMBETA, US10316830, Infantry, Company "E", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the afternoon of 9 June 1953, Corporal BOMBETA was a member of a patrol which closed with the enemy on Hill "412" in the vicinity of Sagimak, Korea. As the friendly soldiers entered the hostile trenches in a close combat fire fight, Corporal BOMBITA sought out the enemy caves and bunkers, throwing his hand grenades and directing a hail of fire, inflicting numerous casualties upon the hostile force. Mortally wounding two enemy soldiers with a hand grenade, he again voluntrily submitted himself to the raking hostile fire to mortally wound two more of the enemy with a burst from his weapon. Corporal BOMBITA'S outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from the Philippine Islands.
