    AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men :

CORPORAL NESTOR ORTIZ SANTIAGO, RA57011110, Infantry, Company "G", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 19 February 1951, near Myongil-li, Korea, Company "G" was given the mission of attacking and scouring Hill 88. Corporal ORTIZ SANTIAGO remained constantly alert on the approach march and was the first man to take up a firing position when the toward the main objective, he was consistently the first man to leave his position, thereby bearing the brunt of enemy small arms fire. During the assault, Corporal ORTIZ SANTIAGO, while clearing on enemy dugout, was wounded by an enemy mortar burst. The heroic actions and aggressiveness of Corporal ORTIZ SANTIAGO were an inspiration to his comrades and reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
