GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 198 17 June 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men :
PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ANTONIO RODRIGUEZ PEREZ, RA30451377, Infantry, Company "C", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 19 April 1951, in the vicinity of Hwanchan-dong, Korea, after being ordered to attack and seize high ground, Private RODRIZUEZ PEREZ'S company came under strong enemy small arms and mortar fire as it approached its objective. Private RODRIGUEZ PEREZ, a member of the company headquarters unit, hearing that a group of men had been wounded, unhesitatingly went forward to the besieged area and transferred the wounded soldiers to the protection of a ditch where he evacuated them one at a time to a litter jeep. His actions were instrumental in enabling his injured comrades to receive timely and proper medical care. Private RODRIGUEZ PEREZ'S heroic devotion to duty reflects great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
