Private First Class CHARLES C. FAULKNER, US55307109, Infantry, Company "K", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. During the early morning hours of 6 July 1953, in the vicinity of Honu-Chon, Korea, Company "K" commenced an attack on enemy held Hill "250". Private FAULKNER was a rifleman in the first assault squad. As the unit approached the second of three hills which constituted their objective, it received automatic weapons fire from an enemy trench, immediately he launched a rifle grenade into the enemy position. His accurate placement of the grenade, despite the intense fire, mortally wounded two of the enemy and rendered others as casualties. He then courageously continued the assault and without regard for his personal safety, fired his rifle contiuously until critically wounded. Private FAULKNER'S outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from Kansas.
