Before reaching the trapped men, the tank exploded a mine and was disabled. Upon arriving there, he immediately reorganized the men and bravely led them out of the impact area. Although exhausted, he then assisted in evacuating wounded personnel to the safety of friendly lines. Private LEVASSEUR'S disregard for his personal welfare and determination were instrumental in the successful return of the patrol members with a minimum of casualtiesl Private LEVASSEUR'S outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from Maine.
