    AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL  - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men :

PRIVATE FIRST CLASS RAMON SANTIAGO, RA30451412, Infantry, Company "C", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 14 February 1951, near Noha-dong, Korea, Private SANTIAGO TORRES was a rifleman in his platoon, which was engaged in a fire fight with a group of enemy soldiers who were dug in well concealed positions on a side of the ridge. An order was given to fix bayonets and make an assault against the enemy. Private SANTIAGO TORRES, with complete disregard for his personal safety, advanced immediately in front of his squad. Facing the approach to the enemy positions, he was suddenly attacked by two enemy soldiers simultaneously. He closed with them and killed them both with his bayonet. Private SANTIAGO TORRES' courage and bravery were an inspiration to the men in his squad and reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
