Bronze Star
HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION
GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 22 - 27 JANUARY 1951
Private Luis Felipe Rivera, RA10406211, Infantry,
Company "A", 65th
Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On
22 December 1950,
near Hungnam, Korea, Private Rivera was with three comrades
on a listening
post when the post became untenable. While returning to
his company, he
and his comrades came upon enemy troops who were setting
up a heavy
machine gun. Realizing the necessity for safeguarding the
company's
positions, he and his comrades rushed the enemy, killed
them with their
rifle butts, rendered the machine gun useless, and then
reported back to
the company. The bold and fearless action of Private Rivera
materially
aided in the later successful defense of his company. The
heroism of
Private Rivera reflects great credit upon himself and
the military service.
Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
