GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 206 - 19 June 1951

 

    AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:

        SERGEANT FIRST CLASS DONATO ROMAN REICHARD, RA10405488, Infantry, Company "F", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 24 March 1951, Company "F" was attacking enemy positions on Hill 476 in the vicinity of Kobi-dong, Korea, Sergeant ROMAN REICHARD and his squad were taking cover from enemy machine gun fire when their platoon leader called for a squad to fix bayonets and follow him. Without hesitation Sergeant ROMAN REICHARD put his squad into action and firing his rifle and shouting encouragement, led his men in a furious charge on the machine gun emplacement. The enemy, surprised and demoralized by the sudden assault of Sergeant ROMAN REICHARD and his men, fled in haste, abandoning their well camouflaged weapon. Sergeant ROMAN REICHARD'S courage and inspiring heroism reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
