Sergeant (then Corporal) RICHARD D. PERKINS, RA18319840, Infantry, Company "E", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. During the night of 14 June 1953, in the vicinity of Sagimak, Korea, Company "E" commenced an attack on enemy held Hill "412", Sergeant PERKINS was a member of a platoon which formed a section of the support element. In the intense firefight that followed, Sergeant PERKINS courageously made numerous trips through the enemy mortar, artillery and small arms fire falling in the immediate area to supply the weapons with ammunition. In the final stage of the action, he valiantly moved across the terrain under fire five times to evacuate the wounded to safety. His brave actions were instrumental in the success of the raid and alleviated much suffering. Sergeant PERKINS' outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from Texas.
