HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION

GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 212 - 22 June 1951

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:

FIRST LIEUTENANT ARMANDO AMY, 0954374, Infantry, Company "A", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 25 April 1951, in the vicinity of Ckugyo, Korea, Company "A" was ordered to occupy Hill 332 and hold at all costs. Since the company had been marching and fighting without relief for three consecutive days, it was a tired group of men who moved into the position on top of the strategic hill. Almost immediately after they reached the summit, they were engaged in a fierce fire fight with the enemy and forced to withdraw for reorganization. Lieutenant AMY, realizing the seriousness of the situation, rallied and organized his weary men, personally leading them in a grenade assault on the hostile force. Due to Lieutenant AMY'S aggressive leadership the company held off three enemy counterattacks which prevented them from occupying the important location. Lieutenant AMY'S heroic and bold actions reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
