GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 267 - 14 August 1952

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:

Captain (then First Lieutenant) JOSE L. JIMENEZ, 02209060, Medical Corps, Medical Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 3 December 1951, near Chokkori, Korea, while Captain JIMENEZ, the Battalion Surgeon, was in the forward positions occupied by Company "C", explaining cold weather injury preventatives to the men, the area was subjected to an intense barrage of artillery and mortar fire, with two seriously wounded casualties resulting. Disregarding his personal safety, Captain JIMENEZ remained in the open, completely exposed to the hazardous enemy fire, rendering prompt and skillful medical treatment while the shelling continued. After initial aid was given, Captain JIMENEZ directed the evacuation of the wounded men over the treacherous mountain terrain to the rear where adequate medical facilities were available. His courage and untiring devotion to duty in rendering prompt medical treatment while under enemy fire was instrumental in saving the lives of two wounded soldiers. Captain JIMENEZ'S heroism reflects great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal service from Puerto Rico.
