GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 350 - 13 December 1952

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:

Corporal ANGEL A. HERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ, US50108739, Infantry, Company "C", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the night of 19 July 1952, Company "C", of which Corporal HERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ was a squad leader, was assigned the mission of attacking enemy positions in the vicinity of Yu-hyon, Korea. As the forward elements neared their objective, they were suddenly subjected to intense enemy small arms, automatic weapons and mortar fire. During this barrage, Corporal HERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ was seriously wounded, but refused evacuation and continued to lead his squad in the attack and upon reaching the enemy trenches he personally disposed of an enemy emplacement with hand grenades. Again refusing evacuation, he continued to expose himself to the hostile fire, as he moved among his men shouting words of encouragement and continuing in the hard fought assault until his unit was ordered to withdraw. The courage and devotion to duty displayed by Corporal HERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ was highly instrumental in the successful completion of his company's mission and reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal service from Puerto Rico.
