GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 361 - 16 December 1952

 

    AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men: 

   Private First Class EMILIO LIBRAN CONCEPCION, US50106686, Infantry, Company "D", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 16 August 1952, while returning to the company command post near Umjich'on, Korea, Private LIBRAN CONCEPCION was stopped and informed that the road ahead was under enemy observation and was being subjected to a heavy barrage of enemy artillery fire. Learning that a friendly soldier lay wounded in the immdiate area of the incoming artillery, Private LIBRAN CONCEPCION, with complete disregard for his personal safety, proceeded into the hazardous area to locate and evacuate the wounded man. Upon locating the casualty and realizing the necessity for immediate aid, he once again crossed the devasted area as he fearlessly carried the wounded man to safety. He again endangered his life as he returned to the shrapnal-torn area and located and evacuated a mortally wounded fellow soldier. Private LIBRAN CONCEPCION'S outstanding heroism and selfless actions were instrumental in saving the life of a fellow soldier and reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal service from Puerto Rico.
