GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 350 - 13 December 1952

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:

Private First Class JAIME LOPEZ DELEON, US50107047, Infantry, Company "L", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the night of 14 August 1952, Company "L", of which Private LOPEZ DELEON was a member, was assigned the mission of serving as a security force for a friendly unit assaulting an enemy occupied hill in the vicinity of Chong-jach'on, Korea. As the forward elements of the friendly assault group neared their objective they were subjected to intense enemy automatic weapons fire. When the entire scene of conflict was illuminated by the glare of a flood light, the foe placed a heavy volume of mortar and artillery fire upon the position and the friendly unit was forced to withdraw. Seeing that four wounded men remained in the critical area, Private LOPEZ DELEON immediately and with complete disregard for his personal safety, advanced through the shrapnel-torn area to the scene of the casualties, administered first aid, and again braved the enemy fire as he personally evacuated one of the wounded men to safety. Private LOPEZ DELEON'S outstanding heroism and selfless actions were instrumental in saving the life of a fellow soldier and reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal service from Puerto Rico.
