Bronze Star
AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:
Sergeant Gilberto Arguinzoni Ofray, RA10405647, Infantry, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 6 February 1951, at Piangyo-ri, Korea, Sergeant Arguinzoni Ofray was leading his squad when pinned down by intense enemy small arms fire. The position of the squad became hazardous and it was necessary to withdraw to more covered ground. Completely disregarding his personal welfare, Sergeant Arguinzoni Ofray deliberately exposed himself to the enemy in order to distract its attention as the members of his squad sought out more covered positions. As a result of his courageous actions, the squad completed its mission without casualty. The initiative displayed by Sergeant Arguinzoni Ofray reflects great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.Source: Record Group 338: General Orders 3rd Infantry Division, Boxes 129 to 131 -
