GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 367 - 17 December 1952

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:

Sergeant CARLOS O. CORREDOR, RA10403892, Infantry, Company "B", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. In the early morning hours of 20 September 1952, elements of Company "B" were given the mission of moving forward and attacking the enemy on an outpost known as "Kelly". As the Company was preparing to join the battalion, which had been engaging the enemy during the night, the unit was subjected to an intense mortar barrage. So intense was this mortar fire that twenty casualties were inflicted before the men could reach covered positions. Sergeant CORREDOR as platoon sergeant unhesitatingly assumed command and began evacuating the wounded to the safety of a nearby bunker. Throughout the long encounter, he remained in the fire-swept area and continually endangered his life in order to render first aid and expedite the evacuation of the wounded. Sergeant CORREDOR'S heroic actions and untiring devotion to duty was instrumental in saving the lives of many of his comrades and reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal service from Puerto Rico.
