GENERAL ORDERS NUMBER 171 - 29 MAY, 1951

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL, - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (section II, WD Bulletin 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in Army Regulation 600-45, and Department of the Army Message WS9043, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:

    CORPORAL (then PRIVATE FIRST CLASS) AGUSTIN QUINONES HERNANDEZ, RA30438629, Army Medical Service, Medical Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 24 March 1951, near Uijong-bu, Korea, a man was wounded as the first platoon of Company "K" was attacking Hill 468, Corporal QUINONES HERNANDEZ, aid man for the first platoon, immediately ran to his side, although within three hundred yards of the enemy and without cover or concealment. While still under enemy fire, he assisted the man to a covered position, administered first aid and rejoined his platoon. The heroism and devotion to duty displayed by Corporal QUINONES HERNANDEZ reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
