Puerto Rico's
65th INFANTRY REGIMENT

SILVER STAR
HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION
 GENERAL ORDERS # 324 - 28 July 1951

AWARD OF THE SILVER STAR, - By direction of the President, under the provisions of the Act of Congress, approved 9 July 1918 (WD Bul 43, 1918), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Silver Star for gallantry in action is awarded to the following-named officer and enlisted men:

FIRST LIEUTENANT JAMES M. HILL, 01342376, Company "B", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 27 April 1951, in the vicinity of Uijongbu, Korea, while attempting to establish a blocking position on Hill 476, Company "B" was subjected to a fierce enemy attack and, during the ensuing action, an adjoining unit was forced to withdraw into "B" Company's defensive perimeter. After a bitter engagement, the enemy succeeded in encircling the friendly units; and, realizing that the troops were gravely endangered by the enemy's actions, Lieutenant HILL organized his men for a mass assault. Firing his submachine gun, he fearlessly led his men forward and drove a wedge through the enemy encirclement. Lieutenant HILL then supervised the evacuation of the wounded to a position of safety where prompt medical aid was administered. Lieutenant HILL'S gallantry under fire reflects great credit upon himself and exemplifies the high traditions of the military service. Entered the military service from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
