SUBJECT: Award of Purple Heart

1. Under the provisions of Section I, circular No. 48
HQ 8th United States Army Korea, dated 4 March 1951, 1st Lt.
Marshall D. Tator, 0-1290333, Company "I", 65th Infantry
Regiment is recommended for award of the Purple Heart.
2. Reasons for above recommendation are as follows :

a. 1st Lt. Marshall B. Tator, 0-1290333 of this
organization, suffered minor injuries as a result of enemy
mortar fire when he was directing the Third Platoon of this
organization while the Company was assaulting enemy positions
in the vicinity of Uiyongbu, South Korea on 23 March 1951.

b. He was hit by falling shrapnel on his nose and
face and did not report to Battalion Aid Station and is now
on duty.
