GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 454  19 October 1953

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL  - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer:

Captain DUQUESNE A. WOLF, 028187, Armor, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalin, 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. During the night of 25 July and early morning hours of 26 July 1953, in the vicinity of Pung-Dong, Korea, the enemy commenced to bombard the Battalion Headquarters area with artillery fire and inflicted several casualties. Captain WOLF immediately left the comparative safety of his foxhole to aid those wounded by the bursting shells and to direct their evacuation. On numerous occasions, he courageously exposed himself to the intense barrage as he moved from section to section, insuring that the members of the company were protected from the concentration. He remained on the terrain under fire until all casualties had been safely removed to covered positions. His brave actions maintained the morale of the men and were instrumental in saving the lives of many friendly soldiers. Captain Wolf's outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from New York.
