AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer and enlisted men :

CAPTAIN ROBERT A. WANN, 01303235, Infantry, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 26 March 1951, the 1st Battalion was in the attack with the mission to destroy all enemy forces in the vicinity of Chickchon-ju, Korea. During the advance, Captain WANN, Battalion Executive Officer, was entrusted with the task of supplying the unit with ammunition. In an attempt to locate a route into the battalion's position in the mountains, he personally organized and led a patrol beyond the unit's forward elements and located a route through the enemy lines. Captain WANN'S location of a supply route materially aided in having the battalion quickly supplied with vital ammunition. The initiative and heroic leadership displayed by Captain WANN reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from the state of Missouri.
