AWARD OF THE SOLDIERS'S MEDAL. -- By direction of the President under the provisions of the Act of Congress approved 2 July 1926, ( WD Bulletin 8, 1926), and pursuant to autherity in Army Regulations 600-45, the Soldiers's Medal for heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy is awarded the following enlisted men:

CORPORAL JOSE JUSTINIANO LOPEZ, RA30451672, Medical Corps, Medical Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 23 December 1950, near Hungnam, Korea, a squad was moving into a defense position when by mistake it went into an anti-personnel mined area. Two mines detonated seriously wounding four members of the squad. With utter disregard for his personal safety, Corporal Justiniano Lopez ventured into the dangerous area, administered first-aid, and assisted in evacuating the wounded to a place of safety. Corporal Justiniano Lopez's heroism reflects great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
