GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 386  8 Sept 1953

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL  - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:

Private First Class (then Private) DONALD J. DE ROSA, US51174876, Army Medical Service, Medical Company, 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the afternoon of 10 June 1953, in the vicinity of Sagimak, Korea, Company "F" attacked enemy held Hill "412". Private DE ROSA, a medical aidman, left the friendly lines with the leading assault platoon. As the friendly forces atacked the second peak of the hill, they encountered intense enemy fire. Exposing himself to the fire, he immediately went to administer vitally needed medical aid to the casualty. While he was treating a seriously wounded man, a round exploded nearby, throwing him to the ground. Although stunned and physically weakened, he continued his medical treatment of the casualty and helped to carry him from the hill to a safe position. He then collapsed from the effects of the blast. Private DE ROSA'S outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from New York.
