GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 297 22 July 1951
 

    AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officers and enlisted men :

SERGEANT FIRST CLASS LORENZO COLON, RA6674818, Infantry, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 14 February 1951, near Noha-Dong, Korea, while companies of the 1st Battalion, 65th Infantry were engaged in attacking enemy positions on Hill 327, an enemy platoon moved unobserved to within a few yards of the battalion observation post. Seeing the proximity of the hostile force, Sergeant COLON courageously led the security squad in an assault on the enemy. Under his inspired leadership, the squad accounted for ten enemy dead and later captured the remaining enemy soldiers. Sergeant COLON'S aggressive and heroic actions eliminated the serious threat to the observation post and reflect the highest credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
