On 6 December 1950, near Majong-Dong, Korea, when a "K" Company patrol was pinned down by intense enemy fire, Sergeant QUINTANA led two mortar squads through an intense hail of enemy small arms fire to the aid of the beleaguered patrol. Although exposing himself to hostile fire, Sergeant QUINTANA, with no regard for his own safety, adjusted effective mortar fire on the enemy, enabling the patrol to make a successful withdrawal. Sergeant QUINTANA had his men remained in position until all ammunition was exhausted before they withdrew.
