SERGEANT (then CORPORAL) BENITO RIVERA, RA10403190, Army Medical Service, Medical Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 31 March 1951, near Cheksong-myon, Korea, when Company "F", 65th Infantry, attacked well-defended enemy positions on Hill 398, Sergeant RIVER'S platoon was subjected to heavy automatic weapons and grenade fire and numerous friendly casualties were sustained. With complete disregard for his own safety and despite intense hostile fire, Sergeant RIVERA advanced to within fifty feet of the enemy positions and evacuated the wounded to a place of safety where he administered first aid.
